The Board of Directors of the Greater Hartford Festival of Jazz needs your help. We are now in search of a “Title Sponsor”, plus we are fundraising and planning for the 2011 Festival, to be held in historic Bushnell Park. It is the largest FREE jazz festival in New England and in 2010 attracted more than 45,000 fans during the weekend from all over the United States and Canada.
The specific purposes of the Greater Hartford Festival of Jazz is to bring together the Hartford Region’s diverse cultural groups in appreciation of jazz music; to affirm Hartford’s historic identity as center for creativity in the arts and more particularly in jazz music and education; to create a showcase for new jazz talent in the Greater Hartford region; to bring the international jazz world to the Greater Hartford area for the cultural enrichment of its citizens; to contribute to the cultural and artistic revitalization of the capitol region and the Greater Hartford region; to combat community deterioration through such cultural enrichment and to emphasize the pride, discipline, knowledge and teamwork necessary to perform in the jazz medium.
Jazz has a long history in Hartford, and has enjoyed a true resurgence over the past decade. Our festival brings not only the best of jazz to the city, but offers it in a family-friendly atmosphere that enables parents to expose their children to America’s only true original art form without the ticket prices of other venues, and in a beautiful park setting.
We invite you to become a sponsor, or a partner, or a friend of the Greater Hartford Festival of Jazz and help us make it through these economic times so we can provide this wonderful experience to the people.
